about this wiki
This Wiki is the site, where my PhD writing is taking place. The writing is tentative and will be in constant flux – at least for the next 12 months. It is a way to get away the daunting, solitary and closed word document and make the moments of "taking shape" public. It allows me to map the process of writing, thinking through, making decisions about how to share my doctoral research. Making transparent what usually happens behind closed doors. When I think this draft has enough substance I will invite peers to be in dialogue, comment or critique. If you want to take thoughts, cite me, please be aware, that this writing is not stable. I am curious to see how you will deal with citation.
context
New proposal: New structure
- The author name on the front cover (politics of authorship, collectivity, audit, accountability, having a voice, authorship as ownership)
- The ISBN on the back cover (politics of distribution, mainstream trade, self-organised, informal)
- The Price (feminist budgeting and non-plausible economies)
- The colophon (who contributed in which dimension, visible and invisible labour)
- The book mark (Open the book at a specific page: reading practices)
- Annotations (book as dialog, reading practices)
- Print, paper, format (material qualities: complexity, anomaly, and disruption) Thoburn, Eisenstein, Johns
- The Binding (the binding as linear structure)
- The Spine (supposed to be stuck on the shelf. What if not?)
- Pagenumbers (GPS, point of reference)
- Bibliography (politics of citation, how and where is knowledge and references sought)
- References (politics of indirect and direct speech, building upon or taking out of context, appropriation, co-option)
- copyright sign (big topic)
- Acknowledgements (mapping the process and the poeple, who were helping)
- Foreword, Afterword (the framing, contextualising)
- Peer review (collaboration as peer-review)
- the books keywords, catalogue entry (the power of framing)
- What is not in the book (invisible work, organising, caring, hosting)
- What is not in the book (editorial work, dialogue)
- The wiki version of the book (mapping the process, mapping collaborations)
- Open Access (from bottom up to top down, metricisation, audit)
